Mundane Moments

img_8156

Some of the best moments of worshipping God is the smallest of them – the mundane moments in your day.

When given to Jesus, they are offerings of thanksgiving in the unseen simplicity of your daily life.

Little altars of normal and boring and non-important that are precious gifts to the in-the-moment relationship-building God.

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.

Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Don’t get caught up in the world’s view of important and busy.

God’s definition of important is a daily relationship with you.

You.

When you make the small moments of your everyday endeavors an offering to God, you will discover that having abundant life in Christ isn’t about doing big things for Him but worshipping Him in the small things you do every day.

May today’s mundane moments and unseen duties be filled with sweet worship and small offerings of fellowship with your very present God.

Your Full Potential

God will keep you accountable to live according to your full potential.

Not as a punishment but as a part of a thriving relationship of love.

Because Jesus loves you, He will challenge you.

He will challenge your status quo.

He will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and live out there.

And when your uncomfortable zone becomes comfortable- He will call you out …again.

“You call out to God for help and he helps—he’s a good Father that way. But don’t forget, he’s also a responsible Father, and won’t let you get by with sloppy living.
1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ MSG

God loves you just as you are but that same love won’t let you stay that way.

Sloppy living isn’t about appearance or how your life looks to others, it is about how your life looks to God.

Sloppy living is when you have stopped risking and reaching but have shrunk back and self-protected.

Sloppy living is settling when you are called to soar.

Sloppy living is when you have delegated the Great Commission to others instead of doing it yourself.

You are not called to live a comfortable life, you have been called to abundant life in Christ.

You have been called to go.

You have been called to grow.

If you think that God is calling you out of your comfort zone- HE IS.

It’s time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and live the life God has created you to live.

What comfort zone is Jesus calling you out of today?

Fear Less, Less Fear

4956684-Erwin-Raphael-McManus-Quote-How-in-the-world-could-you-ever

Everytime you obey God, you drain fear of its power in your life.

Fearless obedience is not about waiting until you have no fear to obey, it is about obeying Jesus no matter how you feel.

It starts with terrified obedience,
then moves to afraid obedience,
becomes nervous obedience,
evolves into determined obedience and somewhere down the line,
joyous obedience will overtake your heart.

To go after all God has for you, talent is optional but obedience is indispensable.

Every time you use whatever faith you have whether it be little or large to step out in obedience you are trusting a loving God to walk with you every step of the way.

“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Whatever Jesus is asking of you today,  he brings all his power with him to help you do it.

Less fear.
More faith.
Abundant life.

What is Jesus asking of you today?

What does it look like to trust him in this?

What is the most important truth you need to hold on to as you step out in faith?

Abundant Rest

Abundant life in Christ includes abundant rest in Him. It is easy to mistake more for better and busy for important.

Wholeness takes time.

“May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.

The One who called you is completely dependable.

If he said it, he’ll do it!”

1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:23-24‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Take a deep breath, slow down.

The Lord isn’t slow in keeping His promises. He is faithful to complete what He has started.

The very best thing you can to do is rest in Him.

Let Him work.

Trust in Him.

Put yourself and what is weighing heavy on your heart into His Hands.

He is patient with you (and with others) because He sees more than you do, His reach extends yours and His knowledge is not hindered by time or eternity.

God knows real change takes time and He is willing to wait.

Rest in Him today and give yourself permission to stop worrying about things you can’t control.

Where is Your Head?

There is a war for your thoughts and for your imagination.

It is a battle for your ability to imagine your day, your tomorrow, your future. A war for the direction of your thoughts and their ability to impact your relationships, job, and home life.

The ability to imagine is a gift or a curse depending on what shapes that imagination.

Many people believe that you can’t control your thoughts or the direction of them but that is not what the Bible says:

“For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.  For the outlook of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace,” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:5-6‬ ‭NET‬‬

The imagination nourished by the Spirit of God is life and peace.

The imagination shaped by the flesh is fear and death.

The thing is, you get to choose. You have free will and God will never take it from you.
What you think, how you think is up to you.
You can go the way of your nature, of your personality, of your circumstances, of your experiences in this world, and follow them all the way down to hopelessness,

Or

You can go the way of Jesus and his nature, his power, his perspective on your circumstances and follow him to a peace that passes all understanding.

This is not about creating your future with positive thoughts. This is about consciously choosing to fix your mind on Jesus Christ and allowing Him to shape your outlook.

“Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God – what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NET‬‬

You have permission, my friend, to take a mental vacation from fear and set your imagination free to dream God sized dreams today.

Where is your head?

What is it filled with?

What does it mean for you to set your imagination free and let God dream for your life?

What To Do When An Unexpected Storm Hits

Do what Jesus did.

Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat.

But Jesus was sleeping.

Matthew‬ ‭8‬:‭24‬ NIV

Jesus was sleeping in the midst of a storm that came on so suddenly and was so ferocious that the disciples feared for their lives. But Jesus did not fear.

Jesus was resting. He didn’t need to quiet the winds and calm the waves to do it. He was resting right in the middle of it.

He was able to because:

1). He was tired and needed physical rest.

2). He knew God determined his time on earth, not a storm- even the most ferocious of ones.

3). He knew who he was (and whose he was): the son of God, on mission from God, filled with the power of God.

4). He knew his mission was not over yet.

The best thing for you to do in a storm is trust God to get you through it and rest in that truth.

1). Rest physically. You will handle the challenge of the storm better if you’re physically rested.

2). Rest in God’s sovereignty. He knows the moment you will cross into eternity. This storm will not be the end of your story and God does not have half a plan.

3). Rest in knowing who (and whose) you are, a cherished child of God, redeemed by the cross of Christ to live life loved and drenched in God’s grace.

4). Rest in the knowledge that if you are here, God’s mission for you is not done yet.

At the beginning of this year, I felt the Lord press me to learn how to rest better. How to lean on him more, how to trust him to meet me more in my everyday challenges and allow his power to flow.

So instead of saying,
“what do I need to work on today?”,

I replaced it with “what do I need to rest in today?”

It completely changed my perspective and set my heart to rest in his love and work from that truth.

If he has asked you to do, he will give you what you need to get through it.

What do you need to rest in today?

Small Worries

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” (Luke 12:25, 26 NIV)

You are here to LIVE, not to waste time and energy worrying.

Small worries become big distractions.

They distract you from living loved and loving fearlessly.

What are you worried about today, my friend?

Ask God to help you identify the fear that is at the heart of the worry. Then take it to the cross and leave it there.

Then ask him to fill you with faith to leave it there and know that Jesus is bigger than your fear and able to provide what you need.

Because HE IS.
