Right In Front of You

One of my favorite moments documented in Jesus’ life is in Mark 10:22.

”Jesus looked at him and loved him.”

Jesus saw the man who was right in front of him and loved him Before the man obeyed or disobeyed – Jesus loved him for who he was right at that moment regardless of the outcome of their relationship.

That is how God loves.

Jesus loves you that way and He wants to love others that way.

My friend, you are not where you are by mistake.

You are loved by the God who created you and wrapped you in His amazing embrace.

There are things that only you can do.

There are people in your life that only you can love and touch today.

The circle of your influence begins at your fingertips – those within your grasp today.

You are where you are for a reason that has more to do with who you are here to love than what you are here to accomplish.

Who has God put right in front of you today?

How are you going to love them?

Priority

ake_time_will_tell_quot

Did you know that when the word “priority” was introduced and used in English that is was not plural? It was was only singular as in “what is your top priority or your priority for today?

Over time, it became plural as now we have five top priorities rather than one. Our culture is now more about trying to figure what is the top priority out of the five top things that must be done today.

I vote that we make priority singular again, especially now as we are waist deep in the holiday season.

I don’t know about you, but it is so easy for me to fall prey to “just surviving” and then being sucked into everyone else’s crisis of the moment and it ramps up even more during this season.

Along with the sweet memories being made during the holidays comes the stress of added parties, stretched finances, being exhausted and days that fly by in the blink of an eye.

It is so easy to forget that if you are empty, you will have nothing to give others. Before you make your to-do list today put time with God in the number one spot.

Make your relationship with God your first and only priority. Spend some time with your Dad. Let Him love you.

“Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.”

Matthew 6:30-33 MSG

Today, may your soul be filled with His presence and may your heart be overflowing with His love.

Spend some time just being His kid and you will be pleasantly surprised by how that changes everything.

Happy Monday!

Live It

Being right with God isn’t the hard part, the hard part is learning how to live it out.
You have lived a long time being broken. A long time learning how to cope with it, how to function in it. The good news of Jesus Christ is that He has taken your brokenness upon himself and in return offers you wholeness. To restore your mind, heart, soul, and spirit to God’s original design.
He wants to teach you a new way to live.
How to live whole and treasured.
How to live trusting and trusted.
How to live nurtured and nourished.
How to love and be loved.
“He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.” (‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭21-24‬ MSG)
It takes time and perseverance.
God provides the time, we provide the perseverance.
Don’t give up.
Every day you are learning how to live restored in Christ.

Say No

Real freedom isn’t saying yes to everything. It means being able to say no when you need to.

No to the things that sabitoge your peace.

No to the things that undercutt your strength.

No to the thoughts that lead you to that dark place.

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,”
Titus 2:11-13 NIV

It also means saying no to people .

Saying “no” can be hard to say when you have used “yes” for so long to please the people around you.

But you are not here to please the people around you. You have been set free to please God.

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Saying yes to God sometimes means saying no to others.

Say no today out of a place of strength, vision and confidence knowing who you are in Christ.

What or who do you need to say no to today in order to be who God has set you free to be?

Real Life

The world likes a tidy image to categorize us in but God has no such desire. In fact, He is much more interested in authenticity vs “image” and reality vs the “picture in our head” of what and who we think we are supposed to be.

Jesus does not expect you to create a perfect picture of a good life.

Instead He invites you to live your real life with Him involved in it everyday.

“So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you”. (1 Peter 5:6, 7 MSG)

Let go of the image of you think you need to be and embrace who you are. God does. Let go of the picture of where you are supposed to be and embrace where you are. God is there with you.

Start enjoying the reality of your life instead of being discontent that it doesn’t fit the “image” of what you think it should look like.

In fact, the more you let go of that “image”, the more you are able to thrive in the life God has given you. Since you are not spending all your time and energy trying to “shine it up” and make life “look right”, simply enjoy who you are and what you have.

Are you miserable because you are trying to live up an unauthentic image?

What would happen if you let go of it and asked God to help you love who you are, where you are and what you have got?

Take the Plunge

There comes a point in life that your faith becomes stronger by facing the facts.

The facts being that human effort can not achieve the fulfillment of God’s promise.

You can’t make it happen. You never could.

“Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

That is the moment your faith is set free to rest in God alone. You must let go of  “doing your best” and embrace “depending on God”.

It sets you free to shift your focus from yourself and your works to God and His works. It shifts from giving yourself the glory of “today, I did a good job” or depression of ”I totally missed it” to giving God all the glory for all He has done and will do, instead.

God chose you.

“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:20-21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God chose you to be a partner in the promise but the lion’s share of strength, inspiration, motivation and miracle is all God’s.

Your part is to receive, rest, wait, give glory to God</i> and live fully persuaded that God is able to do above and beyond all you can ask or imagine.

Take the plunge…live fully persuaded.

God IS able.

Don’t Wait

If you wait until your life is perfect to be thankful, you’ll be waiting until you get to heaven.

Don’t wait.

Embrace the imperfect now.

Enjoy the imperfect you.

God has no plan to make your life perfect but He will use your imperfect life to perfect His work in you.

“Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:18‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Have a good weekend!
