Have you ever opened your Bible and wondered how a story written so long ago could help you with what you are facing today?
Paul wrote in Romans 15:4, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” (NIV)
We read about people who waited longer than they wanted.
We read about people who faced circumstances they could not change.
We read about people who needed God to meet them in their uncertainty.
Just like you and me.
Scripture does not promise that every situation will unfold the way we hope.
It reveals the God we can trust as it unfolds.
We find strength to keep going as we remember who walks with us.
You do not have to see the whole road to take your next step with Him.
Maybe today you need to linger over one passage instead of rushing through several chapters.
Let God’s faithfulness in the Old Testament give you courage and hope in your present situation.
Let their stories help you recognize God’s faithfulness in the middle of your own.
Father, meet me in Your Word today. Give me endurance where I am tired and encouragement where I feel discouraged. Help me trust Your faithfulness while I wait. In Jesus Powerful Name, Amen.
