Some days we have a little more strength to give others.
Other days, we need someone to come alongside us.
Paul writes in Romans 15:1 that, “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.” (NIV)
And that includes being patient with believers whose convictions differ from ours.
That can be hard when we feel sure we are right.
We want to explain ourselves.
We want to hurry someone along.
We want to convince them to see things our way.
But Jesus shows us how to use our strength to serve.
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is slow down and simply walk with someone.
You may not be able to resolve every difference, but you can listen.
You can offer encouragement.
You can make room for someone who is still growing.
Who needs a little patience from you today?
After all, God is still growing us too.
Our freedom in Christ gives us an opportunity to consider someone else’s needs and walk gracefully with them as they grow.
Father, thank You for being patient with me. Help me use the strength You give me to support others. Teach me to listen well, love generously, and walk at the pace of grace. In Jesus Powerful Name, Amen.
