Love That Shows Up

Sometimes we move through our days so focused on what we need to do
that we miss the people right in front of us.

How easy is it to listen while already thinking about the next thing.
But what if we paused long enough to notice?

Paul invites us to give that gift to one another in Romans 12:10 when he wrote, “Honor one another above yourselves.” (NIV)

To honor someone is to recognize their value
and let the way we treat them reflect it.

Honoring someone might mean celebrating their good news
without bringing up our own accomplishments.

It might mean thanking the person who serves faithfully behind the scenes.
Letting someone finish their story without rushing to share ours.

You don’t have to diminish your worth to honor someone else.
You are already loved by your Father.
You have nothing to prove.

From that place of belonging,
you can freely give someone else your attention,
encouragement, and care.

Who is God asking you to honor today?

Perhaps it is someone you see every day whose kindness you have begun to take for granted.

Perhaps it is someone you haven’t seen for awhile.

Whoever God puts on your heart today, make a point to do something
to let them know that God sees them, loves them
and the world around them is impacted by them.

Father, thank You for seeing me and loving me. Help me slow down and see the people around me with Your love. Free me from the need to prove myself, and teach me to celebrate, listen, and give credit generously. Show me someone I can honor today. In the Powerful Name of Jesus, Amen.
