We can so easily let fear or hurt make the call on how we will respond.
Or anxiety.
Or pressure.
Or the opinions of other people.
But what if we slowed down long enough to let the peace of Jesus lead us?
Paul wrote in Colossians 3:15,
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…” (NIV)
I love the word Paul uses here: “rule.”
The idea is almost like an umpire making the call: “Safe!”, “Out!”
Paul says to let the peace of Christ have that kind of authority in your heart.
His peace doesn’t always mean the decision will be easy.
It doesn’t mean there won’t be uncertainty.
It means that underneath all the questions, we trust the One who is leading us.
You don’t need every answer to have God’s peace, or know the outcome to have it.
You need to know the One who has both.
Peace doesn’t come from knowing all the answers,
it comes from trusting the One who does.
Lord Jesus, let Your peace rule my heart today. Quiet the voices of fear, pressure and anxiety so I can recognize Your leading and trust You with what I cannot see. In Your Powerful Name, Amen.
