David goes from how amazing God is to how terrible mankind can be in one verse.
He moves from talking about God’s love to speaking about the evil of man. He writes in Psalms 139:19, “If only you, God, would slay the wicked! Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!” (NIV)
Just like us, King David lived in a broken world filled with violence, betrayal, and pain.
Instead of taking matters into his own hands, he brought his frustrations to God.
That is a good example for us.
The Word of God doesn’t deny that evil exists.
And we don’t have to either.
When we see injustice, hurt, or evil around us,
we don’t have to pretend it doesn’t bother us.
We can bring it directly to God.
Friend, bring your honest emotions to God about injustice you see around you.
He knows and bears the weight of it more than you can imagine.
God sees what is wrong, and one day He will make all things right.
He is both loving and just.
He is angry at injustice and righteous in His decisions.
He holds the world and our hearts in His hands.
My prayer for you today is that when you see the brokenness around you and in you,
that you will trust ultimate justice to Him. I pray that you would be reminded that God is always working, even when you cannot see it.
