Dark and heavy seasons can make us feel hidden and alone.
Sometimes the darkness is external—loss, grief, uncertainty, disappointment.
Other times it is internal—fear, anxiety, shame, or sadness.
David understood that feeling when he wrote in Psalms 139:11, “If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me…’” (NIV)
David reminds us that darkness does not hide us from God.
God is not afraid of dark places.
He enters them with light and compassion.
The darkness may change how things look to you,
but it does not change God’s ability to find you, comfort you, and lead you.
Even when life feels heavy and unclear, God still sees you.
He still loves you.
He still remains near.
He is your comfort in the dark.
Today, if your heart feels weary, remember this:
The God who sees in the darkness is holding onto you.
