In Luke 10: 2-4, Jesus is sending out His disciples to bring the message of the gospel to surrounding villages. He tells them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. ” (ESV)
He says, “pray” then “go.”
Because this was never meant to be done in their own strength.
And every step is a step of faith.
Especially when it doesn’t feel safe or easy
And then He tells them something unexpected:
Don’t take extra provisions.
Don’t over prepare.
Don’t rely on what you can carry.
And stay focused on His mission.
Why?
Because He’s teaching them to trust.
To trust that God will provide.
To trust that He is already at work ahead of them.
To trust that they are not going alone.
Friend, we often want to feel fully ready before we step out.
We want the plan, the provision, the certainty that it will all work.
But Jesus invites us into something different:
A life of dependence on God.
A life of courage to step out in faith with God.
A life of trusting God with what you know and what you don’t.
So today, take the step faith He is asking you to.
Take it one day at a time.
Be willing to let go of control.
He is sufficient.
Pray and Go.
