The Breath of New Life

On the evening of the resurrection, everything changed.

The disciples were gathered behind locked doors afraid, uncertain.
Unsure of what came next.
And suddenly, Jesus stood among them.
He showed them His wounds and they were overjoyed.

Then in John 20:21–22, Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And then—He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” NIV

That word breathed is powerful.
It’s the same word used in the creation story when God breathed life into Adam.
This wasn’t just a moment of comfort.
This was new creation.

Jesus was filling them with His very life.
His Spirit, His power, His presence.
And then He sent them.

Because the mission of God is never something we accomplish on our own.
It flows from His life within us.
So let me ask you, have you been trying to live this life in your own strength?
My friend, you can’t do it…but God can.
 And He wants to.

In Christ, you are not just forgiven, you are made new.
Filled with His Spirit.
 Empowered with His life.
So today, don’t strive, receive.

Breathe in the life He freely gives and step into who He has created you to be.

  1. It’s so hard not to strive! I know who He is and His amazing unconditional sacrificial
Love he has for me. But everyday life I get lost in the world culture and find myself at the end of the day full of guilt, anxiety, and tension from the weight I carried and forgot to lay at His feet. How do I make this less of daily struggle? If I’ve been a christian for so long, and I know who I am I am in Christ, why do I still carry the weight of the world and allow Jesus to sit in the passenger seat? How do I let go and Let God?
