David prays in Psalms 51:11, “Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me.” (NIV). This prayer carried real historical weight for him because he lived under the Old Covenant, where the Spirit came upon people for specific purposes. He had seen the Spirit depart from King Saul. But we don’t live under the Old Covenant, because of Jesus, we live under the New Covenant – we are standing in the grace bought for us on the cross.
The cross settled the question of whether God will cast you away.
He won’t.
You are not living on probation.
You are living in covenant love.
You have access to God’s presence, not because you are perfect but because Jesus is.
So what does this verse mean for us today?
It means that when we mess up, we don’t run from God —we run to Him.
It means we don’t have to fear abandonment, we can fully pursue closeness.
His presence is where restoration deepens.
His presence is where identity steadies.
His presence is where you are reminded that you belong to Your Loving Father.
Friend, today, no matter what you have done, you are not on the outside trying to get back in.
You are invited to draw near, ask for forgiveness and ask for help.
In Christ, you are secure, held and loved.
Live loved and stay close.
