Sometimes we place God in a box shaped by our past, our pain, and our limited understanding of what love and power look like.
But let’s be clear:
God is not human.
He doesn’t lie.
He doesn’t manipulate.
He doesn’t disappoint like people do.
Numbers 23:19 reminds of that, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.” (NIV)
He’s not a genie we summon in crisis.
He’s not a cosmic force to bend to our will.
He’s not the reflection of your earthly father,
your Christian friend, or your favorite (or least favorite) pastor.
He is God.
Divine.
Sovereign.
Faithful.
All-knowing.
Everlasting.
Unchanging.
Yes, Jesus came in human form—God wrapped in flesh to dwell among us. But before the manger, before the cross, before the resurrection He was already Lord. He has always been God. And He still is.
When trust is hard, it’s often because we’re projecting human traits onto a holy God.
But He’s not like us and that’s the best news we could ever receive.
Because where people fall short, God stands firm.
Where others may wound, God heals.
Where life changes fast, God stays constant.
So today, let Him clarify what’s been confused.
Let Him rewrite the stories that have shaped how you see Him.
Let Him reveal who He really is, not who you’ve assumed He might be.
Because the more you know Him, the more you can trust Him.
And the more you trust Him, the less power your problems have over you.
Don’t just tell God how big your problems are, tell your problems how big your God is.
