When Jesus told His closest friends that they were going to lead their lives by a different rule than the world around them, it was the rule of love.
Love forgets itself, its position and its rights.
Love serves.
You can make breakfast for someone but not serve them with love.
You can work all day at your job and not serve with love.
You can clean a toilet and only serve to banish grime.
Matthew 20:25-28 records that, “But Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.’” (NLT)
There is nothing more blessed than to forget yourself, your worries, your struggles and serve with love.
That is what Jesus did, who He is and how He loved us.
Jesus has called you to live in a different way than the world around you and that way is to lead and serve with love.
To live and lead like this is a relief to this mad world and a gift to you as much as it is to others.
