Deep Roots

Deep roots withstand fierce winds.

I witnessed the aftermath of a Category Five Hurricane rip through our city.

A hundred and fifty mile an hour winds took eight hours to move through and devastate everything, roofs, buildings, homes, trees and plants.

The ferocious storm winds and rain uprooted and destroyed countless trees and bushes.

However, I also witnessed trees and plants stripped bare soon burst into bloom in the middle of the Fall.

Why? Because they stay rooted.

My prayer for you today, my friend, is that your faith is so rooted in the love of God that it will hold strong when storms rage over your life.

My prayer for you is that no matter what trial has stripped you bare that new life would burst forth despite all that has been lost.

The Apostle Paul encouraged the early church in Colossians 2:6 when he wrote, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (NIV)

I pray that you will allow God’s all encompassing, crisis surpassing, past restoring, future embracing love surround you, hold on to you and help you get through.

In Jesus’ powerful Name, Amen.
