There is a story in the Old Testament about the first time the Children of Israel came to the edge of the promised land. They sent twelve spies into the land to scout it out. Two spies came back and said that the land was bountiful and can be conquered with God. Ten spies came back and said it would be impossible to conquer the enemies that lived there and that all would perish. Numbers 14:1 captures how the people reacted: “That night all the members of the community raised their voices and wept aloud.” (NIV)
Why did the people of Israel weep at the edge of the promised land God had led them to?
They wept and wailed all night long because they believed the 10 spies that said it was impossible instead of believing God.
They all wanted to settle into the promised land but only if God was going to make it easy for them.
They wanted God to do it for them but God was asking them with to do it with Him.
They mourned as if they were already defeated before they had ever begun.
My friend, God has brought you this far and He will take you all the way into the promised land He has prepared for you.
Believe Him.
Believe God when you face the battle, believe God when you face the giants, believe God to be with you every step of the way.
God didn’t say it was going to be easy.
He said He would be with you.
In John 14:1, Jesus says, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” (ESV)
You can trust Him to give you what you need when you will need it to do what He has called you to do.

These last few months were some of the hardest in my life. I didn’t always trust God. Maybe I mostly didn’t. But I kept praying to Him anyway and kept holding on to any ounce of faith that I had left. He was with me the whole time, brought me through those dark times, and is still with me until the end! Praise God!
