Sometimes we unconsciously treat our relationship with God like a transaction.
“I served, so God should bless me.”
“I obeyed, so life should be easier.”
“I prayed, so God should give me the answer I want.”
But grace doesn’t work that way.
Romans 11: 35 says, “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” (NIV)
God does not owe us anything and yet, in His love, He has given us everything we need in Jesus.
Every breath, every promise, every fresh beginning, and every moment of grace is a gift.
We cannot earn God’s goodness.
We can only receive it with gratitude.
We don’t trust God to place Him in our debt.
We trust Him because He, through Jesus, has paid our debt against God.
We trust Him because Jesus laid down His life for ours.
We trust Him because Jesus defeated death and rose from the grave.
We trust Him because He has already been overwhelmingly generous to us.
What are you trusting God with today?
Father, forgive me for the times I have treated Your grace like something I earned. Thank You for every good gift You have freely given me through Jesus. Help me to receive it all, rest in it all and live loved today.
In Jesus Powerful Name, Amen.
