Faith Rests

Did you know that it is possible to pursue God while still depending on ourselves?

Paul writes in Romans 9: 32, “Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works.” (NIV)

Paul explained that many in Israel were sincerely trying to become righteous,
but they were pursuing righteousness through their own effort instead of receiving it through faith.

Their problem was not a lack of passion,
it was where they placed their confidence.

We can fall into the same trap.

We begin to believe that God will accept us if we pray enough, serve enough, give enough, or finally get everything right.

Those are all beautiful expressions of faith, but they were never meant to become attempts to earn God’s love.

Jesus has already done what we could never do for ourselves.

Faith stops trying to prove, achieve, and deserve.

Faith rests in the finished work of Christ and says, “Jesus, what You have done is enough for me.”

Obedience matters, but it flows from acceptance.
It does not purchase it.

Striving asks, “Have I done enough?”
Faith declares, “Jesus is enough.”

Permission to rest in God’s love today.
Permission to receive God’s love today.
Permission to walk forward surrounded by the amazing underserved love of God today.

Father, forgive me for the times I have placed my confidence in my own performance. Help me rest in what You have already accomplished and live in grateful obedience. Remind me that I do not need to earn Your love because I already have it. IN Jesus Powerful Name, Amen.
