Our words can heal or hurt.
Encourage or discourage.
Build someone up or tear someone down.
Paul says in Colossians 4:6 that, our conversations should “be always full of grace.” (NIV)
That doesn’t mean we never speak truth.
It means we speak truth the way Jesus does—with truth and grace.
What if before we spoke today, we asked one simple question:
“Does this sound like grace?”
Before we send the text.
Before we make the comment.
Before we respond when we’re irritated.
Before we correct someone.
Before we talk about someone who isn’t in the room.
We may not be able to control what people say to us,
but we can choose what comes out of us.
When your heart is full of grace,
grace will find its way to your mouth.
If that isn’t happening,
you need to talk to Jesus about it,
sooner than later.
Lord Jesus, guard my words today. Help me speak truth with kindness and let my conversations be filled with the same grace You continually give me. In Your Powerful Name, Amen.
