The Cross Canceled the Debt

We tend to keep records.
We remember what we did.
 What we said.
 Where we failed.
What we wish we could undo.

Sometimes long after we have asked God to forgive us,
we continue carrying the debt ourselves.

But the cross tells a different story.
Paul says Jesus canceled our debt.

He writes in Colossians 2:13-14, “He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.” (NIV)

Not reduced it.
Not postponed it.
Not put us on a payment plan.

Jesus canceled it.
Jesus took everything that stood against us and nailed it to the cross.

That means you don’t have to spend today paying
for something Jesus has already bought for you.

Stop making payments on a debt Jesus already canceled.

Receive His grace.
Receive His forgiveness.
And walk in the freedom He died for you to live in.

Jesus, thank You that my sins, all of them have been forgiven. Thank you that my debt to God has been canceled. Help me receive Your grace and walk in the freedom You purchased for me. Help me live in an unhindered relationship with God. In Your Powerful Name, Amen.
