Rooted Before Growing

We spend a lot of time thinking about growing.

Growing stronger.
Growing wiser.
Growing in our faith.

But Paul reminds us that before we grow up,
we need to grow down.

He writes in Colossians 2:6–7, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (NIV)

You need roots.
Because you will only stand as strong as the truth you are rooted in.

Because what keeps you standing when the winds come isn’t what everyone can see, it’s what has been growing beneath the surface.

Your roots grow every time you open God’s Word.
Every time you choose to trust Him when you don’t understand.
Every time you pray instead of panic.

Every time you remind yourself of what is true when your feelings tell you something different.

A strong faith isn’t built overnight.
It is built one ordinary day of trusting Jesus at a time.

Jesus, root me deeply in Your love and grace. Strengthen my faith and help me build my life on the truth of who You are and what You did for me on the cross. In Your Powerful Name, Amen.
