Most of us spend a lot of time asking God to change our circumstances.
David prayed something even braver.
He wrote in Psalms 139:23, ”Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.” (NIV)
He prays, “Search me.”
That is a vulnerable prayer.
It invites God to shine His light into places we’d rather keep hidden.
But here’s the beautiful truth:
God never searches our hearts to condemn us.
He searches us because He loves us too much to leave us where we are.
His conviction is always wrapped in grace.
He reveals what’s unhealthy so He can heal it.
He uncovers what’s broken so He can restore it.
The safest place you’ll ever be is fully known
and fully loved by your Heavenly Father.
Father, search my heart today. Gently reveal anything that keeps me from You, and lovingly lead me in Your everlasting way. In Jesus powerful Name, Amen.
