Freedom isn’t just about what you’ve been set free “from.”
It’s also about what you’ve been set free “for.”
Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” (NIV)
Jesus didn’t rescue us so we could simply go back to our old way of living. He set us free so we could live lives marked by love, joy, peace, kindness, and purpose.
Imagine a bird being released from a cage.
Its freedom isn’t found in sitting on the cage door.
Its freedom is found in flying.
The same is true for you and me.
God has freed you to
love others,
serve generously,
forgive quickly,
and walk closely with Him.
That’s how God’s abundant life is fully unleashed within us.
Friend, don’t settle for living at the cage door.
Stretch your wings and fly!
Father, thank You for giving me freedom with a purpose.
Help me use my freedom to love You, love others, and become more like Jesus every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
