Deep Roots

Many people think trusting God will keep them from hardship,
but Scripture teaches something different.

Jeremiah 17:7 says, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.” (NIV)

Then in verse 8, Jeremiah compares the person who trusts God to a tree planted by water: “they will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” (NIV)

The tree still experiences heat.
The tree still lives through drought.
The tree still faces difficult seasons.
But it survives because its roots run deep.

Trusting in God doesn’t always change our circumstances;
but it changes our stability within them.

When our confidence is rooted in God, we can continue growing even when life feels dry.

We can draw our security from Him when resources run out.

We can stand strong and bear fruit in spite of the circumstances happening around us.

We are nourished by His presence,
strengthened by His promises,
and sustained by His faithfulness.

The storms may come,
but deep roots will keep you standing.
