Thomas gets a reputation for doubt but if we’re honest, haven’t we all been there?
Unless I see.
Unless I understand.
Unless I feel it.
Unless it makes sense.
John 20:25 tells us, “So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord!’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.’” (NIV)
We want proof before we trust.
Certainty before surrender.
But Thomas wasn’t pushing Jesus away,
he was longing to be sure it was really Him.
And here’s the beautiful truth:
Jesus didn’t reject Thomas for his doubt.
He met him in it.
When a week later, Jesus appeared and invited Thomas to touch His wounds,
He didn’t shame Thomas, He showed him.
Friend, God is not afraid of your questions.
He is not offended by your wrestling.
He meets you right in the middle of it.
And sometimes, faith doesn’t begin with seeing everything clearly,
it begins with being willing to come close anyway.
Come close, to the Risen Lord who has conquered death
and who knows what your next step of faith is.
