The Crushed

Situated at the bottom of the Mount of Olives,
locals would come to extract oil under the giant wheels
of the crushing stones in Garden of Gethsemane.

Gethsemane was the place of crushing.
Matthew 26:36 tells us, “Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane,” (NIV)

With the scent of olive oil heavy in the air,
Jesus came before God with a soul overwhelmed with sorrow.
He held back nothing.
He was brutally honest.
He cried out in such distress that
crimson drops of blood appeared on His forehead.

Gethsemane is where we see God’s incredible love,
embodied in Jesus, choosing the hard way.

Before Jesus went to the Cross, He poured out His heart in Gethsemane.
Then He went from that place
to be unjustly imprisoned,
falsely accused,
beaten,
and nailed to the cross until He died.

Jesus faced it, bore it and surrendered fully to it.

So we could live forgiven,
live loved,
be reborn in the Spirit
to forever dwell
with God today, tomorrow and forever.
