There’s a difference between being driven and being led.
Being driven feels like pressure.
Like you have to get it right.
Like if you slow down, you might fall behind.
But being led by the Spirit feels different.
It’s not forced, it’s relational.
It’s not rooted in fear, it’s rooted in love.
Romans 8:15 says, “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’” (NIV)
Paul reminds us that we are not slaves anymore.
We are not living under pressure, fear, or performance.
We are children.
And children don’t have to earn their place in the family, they live from it.
The Spirit within you is not pushing you with anxiety or threats, He is leading you with love.
He invites you to come close, to trust, to rest and to call on God as the Father He is.
Not as just Creator or Judge but “Abba” – a Hebrew’s child word for Daddy.
Abba.
A word is intimate.
Personal.
Secure.
So if your faith has started to feel like pressure and performance, you have permission to lay it all down and run into your Abba’s open arms.
Because performance leads to continual exhaustion but relationship with Him leads to true freedom.
