God Meets You in the Middle

Let’s be honest, none of us wake up hoping for suffering. We don’t pray for it or plan for it.
So when it shows up, our first thought is usually, Something must be wrong. Maybe I missed God or maybe I made a mistake. Maybe I’m not doing this right.

But Romans 5:3-4 gently interrupts that narrative, “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (NIV)

Paul doesn’t say suffering means God has left, he says suffering may mean something is being formed. Suffering produces perseverance. Perseverance shapes character. Character anchors hope. That doesn’t mean suffering is good. It means God is good in it.

Growth doesn’t mean God is distant.
Hard seasons don’t disqualify you.
And difficulty is not proof of divine disappointment.

Sometimes the very place that feels uncomfortable is the place where your roots are growing deeper. Character is formed where comfort cannot go. And here’s the tender truth:
God is not waiting for you to “get through it” so He can meet you on the other side.

He meets you in the middle.
In the diagnosis.
In the strained relationship.
In the unanswered prayer.
In the exhaustion you didn’t see coming.

God is not pacing at the finish line…He is walking with you in the valley.
