When Trust Feels Hard

Trust is a tricky thing—especially if you have trust issues.

And if I’m honest, sometimes trust is tricky for me.

There are days when asking for help feels more risky than just trying to figure everything out on my own. Depending on someone else—or even depending on God—can feel vulnerable when you’ve been disappointed before.

And yet, there are moments in life when the circumstances around us are so far outside our control that we know we can’t fix them. We can’t solve them. We don’t have the resources, the knowledge, or the power to change what’s happening.

So we reach out for help.

When King David wrote Psalms 25 thousands of years ago, he was in one of those moments. He was facing something that was simply too big for him to handle on his own, so he turned to God. He turned to Yahweh—the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

And he prayed in verse 2:
“I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.” (NIV)

When David came before God, he was honest. He didn’t pretend he was strong or unbothered. He laid his fear of the future before God. He named what he was afraid of. He asked for what he needed.

And then he trusted God with the outcome.

My friend, I want to encourage you to do the same.

Be honest with God about how you’re really feeling. Lay the unknown future in His hands. Ask Him for what you want and what you need—and then release the outcome into His care.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.

One day at a time.
One step at a time.
Keep going.
And keep trusting God in it.
