There are moments—quiet ones, desperate ones—when our hearts cry out, and we wonder if anyone truly sees us. Moments when the weight of fear presses hard, and we’re tempted to believe we’re alone in it.
Psalms 118:5 says, “In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.” (NLT)
Freedom doesn’t always come with changed circumstances,
sometimes, it comes with the simple assurance that we are not abandoned.
God hears.
God answers.
And God moves.
You don’t have to carry fear into your tomorrow.
You don’t have to wait for people’s approval to feel secure.
You are not at the mercy of the opinions or actions of others.
Psalms 118:6–7 continues, “The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Yes, the Lord is for me; he will help me.” (NLT)
Let that truth settle deep:
The Lord is for you.
Not against you.
Not disappointed in you.
Not distant.
He is near.
He is helping.
He is holding you steady.
And when the world feels unpredictable, when people let you down, when even the ones you trusted seem to fall short— there’s still One who never fails.
Psalm 118:8–9 confirms the truth we live in: “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” (NLT)
So today, take refuge.
Not in results, praise, status, influence or certainty.
Take refuge in the Lord.
He is for you.
And that is more than enough.
