Sometimes Jesus calls you to climb to a higher place with Him.
Not higher in status.
Not higher in visibility.
Higher in closeness.
Higher in clarity.
Higher in dependence.
There are moments when He invites you to step away from the noise of the crowds and the constant pull of everyday life and follow Him to a quieter place.
A place where distractions fade and His voice becomes clear again.
A place where your soul can finally breathe.
It’s easy to mistake these seasons for loneliness—when in reality, God is gently, lovingly trying to get your attention. At the very beginning of Jesus’ public ministry, we’re given this beautiful picture in Matthew 5:1-2, “When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him.” (MSG)
Notice this: the crowds stayed below.
The committed climbed.
When Jesus calls you to climb with Him, you can be sure it’s always for your good.
But you can also be sure it won’t always be easy.
Climbing never is.
The climb stretches you.
Strengthens you.
Changes you.
When Jesus calls you higher, it’s not to exhaust you—it’s to transform you.
And if you’re feeling lost in the crowd, maybe it’s because you were never meant to live there.
You belong to Jesus.
And sometimes, following Him means leaving the noise behind and going higher.
Because climbing the mountain with Jesus will forever change the way you live in the valley. Nothing truly worth having comes easy—but everything Jesus invites you into is always worth it.
