What if you began this New Year with a quiet, courageous word—“No.”
Not out of rebellion.
Not out of selfishness.
But out of wisdom.
Out of love.
No is a simple word,
but rarely an easy choice.
Are you over-stressed?
Over-tired?
Overwhelmed?
You don’t have to fix it all today.
But you can begin by saying no—
to something,
to someone,
to anything that is draining you more than it is growing you.
You should say no.
You can say no.
You need to say no.
Because while God has unlimited capacity,
you, my friend, do not.
You are human.
Beautifully limited.
Intentionally created with boundaries.
You only have so much time.
So much energy.
So much heart to give.
And that’s okay.
You don’t have to explain or apologize.
Sometimes, “No” is your bravest yes—
to peace,
to rest,
to health,
to your soul.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:37, “Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ be ‘No.’” (NKJV)
As this year begins,
ask yourself gently:
What do I need to say “No” to?
Who do I need to say “No” to today?
Give yourself permission.
Say it with grace.
Say it with love.
Say it because your “yes” matters too much to be wasted.
