Simply Faithful

As you recover from Christmas and head toward the New Year, you may be thinking about making a New Year’s Resolution. I stopped making New Year’s resolutions a few years ago.
And to be honest, it was a relief.

No more pressure to reinvent myself.
No more striving to become someone “better.”
Instead, I began focusing on what God had already spoken.
What He had already placed in my heart.
What He had quietly asked me to begin.

You see, if God gives you something to do,
He will make a way for you to do it.

2 Peter 1:3 says that, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” (NIV)

It won’t always be easy.
You’ll face obstacles.
You’ll get discouraged.
You’ll probably have to start over—more than once.

But don’t mistake hard for impossible.
And don’t underestimate the power of small, steady faithfulness.

Galatians 6:9 says, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life.” (NIV)

Most of what God calls us to isn’t flashy or loud.
It’s the daily faithfulness of doing the next right thing, loving well, listening more, being present, and letting go of what doesn’t belong in this season.

So here’s my gentle challenge for the year ahead:
Don’t make a list of resolutions.

Instead, be resolutely committed to what God has already asked of you.
Not to impress Him but to walk with Him.

Keep it simple.
Keep it consistent.
Find a way to stay faithful.

What do you need to start—or restart—that God whispered to you last year?
Or just last week?

He hasn’t forgotten.
And He hasn’t changed His mind.

Take a breath.
Take His hand.

Don’t wait for New Year’s Day,
step out in faith with Him today.
