Eight days after Jesus was born, Mary and Joseph brought Him to the temple to dedicate their newborn Son, to honor the ancient rhythms of faith.
But heaven had already orchestrated a divine appointment.
There, waiting in the shadows of hope, stood Simeon— an old man whose eyes had long searched the crowds for the One his soul had been promised. And when he saw Jesus, he knew.
Luke 2:29–32 records his prayer as he held the baby, “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” (NIV)
In that sacred moment, he cradled the future.
He held the fulfillment of every longing, the answer to every prayer, and the light that would pierce every darkness.
He is salvation.
He is the light of revelation.
He is the glory of God in human form.
The story doesn’t end on December 25.
After Christmas, Jesus keeps coming— into your everyday, into your struggles, into your heart.
He is love that cannot be measured.
Light that cannot be hidden.
Truth that cannot be silenced.
Today, may you take a minute to let your soul echo Simeon’s awe and carry this wonder into a world still waiting to behold Him.
He is.
