I don’t know about you, but the stress and busyness of this season can sneak in and take over before we even realize it. One minute we’re sipping hot cocoa under twinkle lights,
the next we’re overwhelmed by to-do lists, family expectations, and a gnawing sense that it’s not turning out the way we hoped. So today, I want to gently encourage you: Let go of the way things are “supposed to be.”
Instead of rehearsing past disappointments or trying to create a picture-perfect moment in your head, let it be what it will be.
Let the imperfections be part of the beauty and the awkwardness be part of the memory. Let this season unfold as it comes—messy, magical, and full of meaning.
The truth is, no amount of “perfect” will give you the fulfillment your heart craves. Because what you’re really looking for isn’t flawless decorations or seamless gatherings.
You’re looking for love.
For joy.
For peace.
For patience and gentleness in the middle of the madness.
And those aren’t the fruits of the season—they’re the fruit of the Spirit.
As you count down the days to Christmas, take a minute to breathe. Refocus. Let your heart return to Jesus.
It is His love you’re celebrating.
It is His birth that brings new birth to your weary soul.
It is this miraculous gift of the Son, this unquenchable love of the Father, and this daily guidance of the Spirit that fuels the true celebration.
Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)
That’s what I pray for you today.
That in the middle of complicated family dynamics, unspoken grief, joyful anticipation, and ordinary chaos— you’ll be wrapped in the peace of God.
