My friend, I want to remind you today that God fulfills His Word. God promised that a child would be born and that He would be the Savior of the world thousands of years ago.
Isaiah 9:6-7 records, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.” (ESV)
I am sure many had given up hope on God coming through with this Word.
I am sure many moved on.
Maybe they felt like God had forgotten about them.
But God’s promises are fulfilled by God’s power.
The very same power that brought order to the chaos and light to the darkness promised that Immanuel, “God with us,” would be born.
And He was.
God fulfills His word.
Luke 1:30–33 records the moment Mary found out she was a part of that promise when the angel Gabriel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” (ESV)
He is Jesus, the Son of the Most High.
He is the Messiah, the rescuer, deliverer and reconciler to God.
He is the Savior, who saved us from our sins.
God’s promises are fulfilled by God’s power, in God’s timing. If you are doubting today that God can do what He said He would, just look around.
Christmas is proof of His faithfulness and that He fulfills His Word.
