Fixated

What do you do when your mind keeps wandering to dark places, ungracious judgements and hopeless scenarios?

Philippians 4:8 gives us the answer: “Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.” (MSG)

The answer to your unruly thoughts are to choose to fasten them on Someone, the One, the Great I Am, the King of kings and the Prince of Peace: Jesus Christ.

Then instead of thinking about what is inauthentic and fake around you, fix your mind on all that is authentic and real.

Instead of giving into judgement and critiquing others, fixate on all that is honorable and admirable in others.

Instead of focusing on the ugly and disrespectful, fixate on all that is beautiful and respectful.

And after all that, fixate on mercy and kindness.

And after all that, if you still need more to fill your mind with, think of every glorious work you have seen God do, beginning with the sun that rose this morning.

The heart and mind fixed and fastened on these things will experience living a different kind of life with a supernatural atmosphere of the soul.
Try it and see.
