Why did Jesus pay the penalty for our sins on the cross?
For relationship.
For freedom from perfectionism and striving to be good enough for God to love.
So we could live a “with-God” life, everyday, not just on “good” days.
Romans 3:23-24 reminds us, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” (NLT)
There is so much wrong in the world at large and within our small worlds.
Some wrongs we can make right.
Some things we change and make better.
But the one thing we cannot do is make ourselves right with God.
Even on our best day, we fall short.
Steeped in human brokenness, separateness, and darkness.
But God did for us what we could not do for ourselves.
He made us right with Him.
So that you can lived loved by Him every day of the rest of your life.

Your faith in what Jesus did for you isn’t based on how you feel today but what He did for you on the cross over 2000 years ago.
