We are created to be seekers of delight.
We are made to have an appetite for joy.
We are created with the desire to experience joy, peace, and wonder by our Creator.
After the admonishment in the first three verses of Psalms 37 to squash envy when it shows up, to trust God and do good, the next command is verse 4 to: “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (NIV)
You are made for this – a relationship with Him.
And through this relationship, joy is found.
The desire to love and be loved, to connect and be connected to, to cherish and to be cherished comes from the Father’s heart.
When you look for humans to meet the deepest desires of our hearts, you will always be disappointed.
The only One who can truly fulfill your desires is the One who created them.
When you draw delight in your relationship with God, the whole world becomes filled wonder.
