Rest

You know that moment when your phone or computer is not working the way it should?

Maybe it’s response time is slow and simple things become frustrating.

Instead of wrestling through it or simply giving up, the first thing to try is always to shut it down and restart it.

Turn it off.

The screen goes blank and you have to wait for it to restart.

It is the same with your mind.

When you are tired or overworked your response time slows down and simple things become frustrating, instead of wrestling through or simply giving up, take a break.

Take a five minute rest.

Unplug.

Mark 6:31 records the time when Jesus made His disciples stop working and rest. It says, “Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’” (NIV)

Friend, stop focusing on what you’re working on and take a mental vacation.

Unplug from the world around you and take some time to plug into God’s love for you.

Rest in His grace.

Refill your soul in His presence.

Even if it is just for a minute or an hour.

Whatever it takes.

You will be amazed at the difference it will make.

Rest.
