When you receive God’s love and let the magnificent truth of it sink into your soul, it gives you courage.
1 John 3:18 says, “My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love. This is the only way we’ll know we’re living truly, living in God’s reality. It’s also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves.” (MSG)
God’s love for us gives us courage to change the way we think about ourself and others.
Courage to shut off negative self talk and embrace self-compassion.
Courage to address negative habits, harming coping mechanisms or procrastination tactics.
God knows everything about you and loves you like crazy.
The proof of God’s love is not your present circumstances.
1 John 4:9-11 reminds of this truth, “God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.” (NLT)
The proof of God’s love for you is the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ so that in all your circumstances, you know God is with you and His love surrounds you.
May this truth give you the courage to love your flawed self, and empower you to love the flawed people around you.
