Some seasons are harder than others.
Financial hardship, relationships that implode, or a job change impacts every area of your life are just a few.
It may seem that hardening your heart is the best way through.
But it is not.
Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (NIV)
We are the keepers of our hearts and are meant to guard it from the corruption of cynicism, hatred, envy and corruption of fear of the future.
All of these if left to take root will harden and deaden your heart.
It may feel easier to have a hard heart than feeling the pain of having a soft one.
Your heart is made to process pain not lock it away.
My friend, don’t harden your heart.
Your heart is meant to feel, not be numb.
When you harden your heart instead of processing the pain, you lock the pain inside of you with no way out.
Push through this hard season with God.
Process the pain in the presence of God.
His presence is a safe place for you to pour out your heart before Him and receive relief.
Feel the emotions, face the fear, embrace the uncertain future in the presence of God’s certain love.
Let all those emotions work all the way through and all the way out of your soul.
Guard your heart by opening it up fully to God and God will grow it, heal and fill it.
Don’t just get through today’s struggle, process it all in the presence of God.
