I believe we are born longing to live “the good life.” Not the fake it until you make it, how to function in dysfunction and how to live well on the outside while being utterly broken inside life that the world shows us but a deep down, real satisfying, purpose filled, whole life.
With Jesus we learn how to “live whole” and live by the power of God’s Spirit.
Jesus empowers us to live trusting and trusted.
He shows us how to live nurtured and nourished.
He leads us in love and shows us how to lead others with love.
He empowers us to no longer live according to the flesh but according to His Spirit.
Jesus sets us free, breaking the power of the flesh living and following the whims of the world.
Romans 8:3-6 tells us, “For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” (ESV)
Jesus did this so you can truly be set free from the tyranny of the world living, flesh driving, look-good-on-the-outside-while-suffering-on-the-inside life and live the good life you crave.
The good life according to God is living in the power of the Spirit, focused on His ways, His work and His power within you through Christ.
That is how you live the good life, the one you were created to live.
