Years ago on our way out of Disneyland our youngest son was intently looking at his new stuffed animal and got lost in the surging crowd. One moment he was with us and next he wasn’t. I immediately stopped, told my husband and we began looking for him. We went back to the last spot we saw him and began calling his name. After five long minutes we found him.
As we wrapped our arms around him, big tears welled up in his eyes and he said, “I couldn’t see you, I couldn’t find you.” My husband told him, “You did the right thing- you stopped right where you were. We will always find you, always come back and get you.”
Jesus said in Luke 19:10, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” (NIV)
Jesus crossed the boundary of heaven and earth to find God’s children.
He came for those who get distracted and are swallowed up by the surge of the crowd.
He came for those who panic and don’t know where they are.
He came to seek and save, find and hold, reclaim and restore the lost.
You can know that the One who destroyed death will not stop seeking and saving those you love.
He loves them even more than you do.
My prayer for you today is that as you enter into the Christmas Season, you see those around you the way that God does.
He sees them as His lost children who are looking to be found.
He sees them as orphans looking for a home.
He sees them as loved ones who need to know that Jesus came to earth as a baby so that they could be restored to their purpose to live every day as the beloved children of the living God that they are.
