What do you do when your mind is full of what everyone else is doing or not doing?
What do you do when your mind keeps wandering to dark places, ungracious judgements and hopeless scenarios?
Philippians 4:8 gives us the answer: “Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.” (TPT)
The answer to your unruly thoughts are to choose to fasten them to Someone, the One, the Great I Am, the King of kings and the Prince of Peace: Jesus Christ. Begin with the glorious work of God through Jesus on the cross that set you free from the penalty of your sins to live fully loved and fully accepted by God everyday.
Then choose what you will think about throughout the day and in every interaction.
Instead of thinking about what is inauthentic and fake around you, fix your mind on ALL that is authentic and real.
Instead of allowing your mind to slip into constant judgement and critiquing, ask God to open your eyes to ALL that is honorable and admirable in others.
Instead of focusing on all the horrible, ugly things in things world, collect ALL that is beautiful and respectful around you whether big or small.
Instead of being overwhelmed when every evil that is revealed, fasten your thoughts on Who is pure and holy, Who He Is, What He is doing and how He wants to use you in His daily work of love and restoration.
Instead of collecting stones to throw at those who you cannot find anything authentic, real, honorable, admirable, beautiful, respectful, pure or holy in them, be merciful and kind to them. Choose to give to them what they don’t deserve (mercy) and to respond to them with kindness through the power of the Holy Spirit within you.
And after all that, if you still need more to fill your mind with, think of every glorious work you have seen God do, beginning with the sun that rose this morning.
The heart and mind fixed and fastened on these things will experience living a different kind of life with a supernatural atmosphere of the soul.
