I stopped making New Years Resolutions a few years ago.
I decided that if I could simply continue to be faithful to what God has already asked me to do, then that would mean more in my life in the long run.
It has been a relief to not focus on myself and instead focus on being faithful. To put into action what God has prompted and do it consistently, no matter how hard the obstacles (and there are always obstacles).
If God has given you something to do, He will provide a way for you to do it.
That doesn’t mean it will be easy. You will have to choose to keep going in spite of all the obstacles, all the setbacks, all the failures. You are going to have to fight for it and start over again and again.
I’m not talking about big things or big changes, God has already begun those in your life.
I’m talking about you staying faithful to keep doing the little things that He has spoken to you to do. You already know what they are, I don’t have to tell you.
So, my challenge for you this year: don’t make a New Year’s Resolution list.
Instead, be resolutely committed to being simply and wholeheartedly faithful to do what God has already asked you to do.
What has God challenged you to do that you haven’t done yet?
What do you need to start (or restart because it has fallen by the wayside)?
What has God given you to do that needs to continue to be faithfully put into action?
Keep it simple.
Keep it consistent.
Find a way to stay faithful.
Happy New Year’s Eve!
“Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” 2 Peter 1:2-3 NIV
