“This is why the fulfillment of God’s promise depends entirely on trusting God and his way, and then simply embracing him and what he does.
God’s promise arrives as pure gift. That’s the only way everyone can be sure to get in on it, those who keep the religious traditions and those who have never heard of them.
For Abraham is father of us all. He is not our racial father—that’s reading the story backward. He is our faith father.”
Romans 4:16 MSG
Faith begins with trust, is walked out in trust and ends with trust.
Striving is not the solution.
Stressing out is not the solution.
Surrender is the solution.
Surrender yourself to God.
Surrender your situation to God.
Surrender your fears to God.
This isn’t about giving up but it is very much about the giving over of yourself into God’s hands.
Not because you understand how he can work a miracle but by believing he can work a miracle. Surrender is about trusting him to be who he is – your loving Father.
Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you, we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what.
Who or what can get to me?”
Hebrews 13:5-6 MSG
Surrender your fears and embrace your faith. Choose to walk according to who Jesus is and not according to who others are.
I really love this, but how do you surrender. I feel like I’m fighting myself because even though I keep telling myself to surrender, I keep feeling myself slip into panic and desperation. I keep hanging on. How do I fully surrender?
Dear Angel, surrender is journey of trust and you have to get to know someone before you can trust them. I found that it took time to trust God and the more I got to know His Word, the more I got to know His heart. And the more I realize how much He loves me and the lengths He is has gone to know me, the more I am am willing to take that step and trust him. Surrender means I’m relearning how to live my life according to how God sees me, not how others or even how I see myself. It’s scary to trust God especially if you are so used to getting hurt when you trust someone. Jesus is there to walk with you every step of the way and when you feel panic begin- reach for the Word, like “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13 NIV) or “though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, but My loving kindness will not be taken from you. And My agreement of peace will not be shaken, says the Lord”. (Isaiah 54:10 NIV).
Surrender is a Journey and everyday I find new things to trust Jesus with. For me, it all starts in my thoughts- what am I thinking? Does it line up with the Bible? If not, I ask Jesus for help and admit I can’t do this on my own. I hope this helps, Angel. Praying for you!
Beautiful words, Cindy, thank you.
Thank you, Janet!
I proclaim and declare I will walk by faith and not by sight. Grant me strength Jesus. Amen
