Living in a loud world requires cultivating a heart with Jesus ans it is more like a cultivatinf a garden than completing a to-do list.
It needs loving care and tending, to be protected from predators and all weeds MUST be pulled.
New things NEED to be planted, old things NEED to be pruned.
An untended garden grows wild and will produce good things as well as growth threatening weeds. It is the same with your heart.
However, you are not the gardener of your heart, God is. You are the soil.
“In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.”
James 1:21 MSG
You invite Him in, He waters your soul. You spend time with Him, He pulls weeds. You obey Him, He plants seeds.
It is a partnership but one that is different than you are used to.
Your most important job is to give Jesus time, opportunity and full access to do His work in your heart.
A quiet, secure heart is of great value to those closest to you as well as the loud, insecure world around you.
Shut the world out and invite Jesus in today to landscape your heart with his grace.
Happy Monday.
That is the fine line for me…I want to shut the world out all the time:-) I would love to be on a constant retreat, to physically and spiritually feel Jesus’ presence all the time. It is hard for me to figure out how to have a quiet and peaceful heart…which is my personal desire…without closing off the world. Because I know that the peace Jesus gives is not like the peace of the world. Instead of continuously striving for a peaceful existence, my struggle is to learn how to be centered in Christ while the storms and evil rage around me.
Thanks for your reminder!
Amen- how to centered in Christ while the storms rage. Amen.
