It is good to have a place to go when you are overwhelmed.
It is even better to have a person to go to: a friend, a parent or a mentor but better than all those is your Savior. I wanted to remind you today that Jesus is your rock.
Jesus is the original Rock, long before Duane Johnson acquired the nickname.
He is the Rock of Ages. The Alpha and Omega. The great I AM. He was the prince of heaven before “Let there be light” was spoken and will reign long after the last shaking of this old earth. He is physical form of the invisible God. The ever present Savior unhindered by time or distance. It doesn’t matter where you cry out for help. Whether you are at work, at home, in the car or walking through a store, he hears your silent prayers as well as your loudest cries. It doesn’t matter when you cry out for help. There is no distance between you for His Spirit is with you the instant you ask.
Jesus is the Rock of Refreshing. He is the solid rock that contains endless reserves of living water. When you are parched and panicked, He will refresh and restore you just as the rock in the desert that Moses struck kept a million former slaves alive.
Jesus is the Rock of Foundation. He is the solid ground to stand on when the storms of life buffet and beat. He is the unmovable mountain that holds strong against the fiercest winds and the secure foundation that the floods cannot destroy.
If you are feeling overwhelmed today my friend look to Jesus, pour out your heart to him and stand in the security of His love. Find refuge in the fortress of His Word. Be refreshed by water of grace poured out His Spirit.
Whatever stands against you, pales in comparison to God’s unconditional love for you.
“When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.”
Psalms 61:2 NIV
