Resting is as important as working.
Physically we understand it: sleeping is as vital part of your health. While you sleep your body is working. In children and teenagers it literally grows them. In adults, it repairs, heals, prepares and rejuvenates the body.
The better you rest, the better you live.
It is also true spiritually.
Jesus uttered the words “it is finished” on the cross. The work to redeem you to God is done. You can’t add to what was done on the Cross or take anything away from it. You can’t make yourself “more right” or less right” with God.
What you can do is receive it.
What you must do is rest in it.
The better you rest, the better you live.
When you rest in God’s love, you grow.
When you receive his forgiveness, you are healed.
“for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.” (Hebrews 4:10 NIV)
You need more rest. Not more sleep, but more rest.
Today you get to choose if you are going to work more or rest more.
Thank you for these wonderful words. I have learned in my life span that ifI am restless and unable to really rest, then I need to get on my knees and talk to to our Savior who gives us rest.
