If GOD doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks. If GOD doesn’t guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap. It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves? (Psalm 127:1-2 MSG)
It may be useless, but it sure is easy to do.
It is easy to rise early with worry and go to bed exhausted with:
“How am I going to do this?”.
“How am I going to get ahead?”
“How am I going to succeed?”
“How am I going to do more to make this work when I feel like I have nothing left to give?”
It is easy to take the weight of the work and carry it squarely on your shoulders.
The more you do, the more than must be done. The more you succeed, the more you must succeed. The best you did last week pales in comparison with the best you must do this week to keep your head above the water of whatever sea you are sinking in.
“Unless the Lord builds the house….”
How does He do it? How does he build a house, a marriage, a family, a fortress or a career?
I don’t know. Truth is, it is a mystery that is as unique as you are.
The real question is “How to you stop building your own kingdom and allow God to build His through you?”
And that is an answer that only you and God can answer together.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NIV)
